Top 5 Horror anime

Are you feeling like testing your nerves today? Are you seeking that creepy feeling that makes you doubt your surroundings and want to cover under the blanket?
We all have those moments. So grab a change of underwear and a flashlight and lets take a deep dive into the best horror anime series.

Top 5 - Corpse Party: Tortured Souls (Bougyakusareta Tamashii no Jukyou)

Asread

If you're a fan of mystery, gore, horror and watching students get into trouble then you're going to love this one. Young students tells ghost stories at a school known Kisaragi Academy. Before they know it, they soon become haunted by the ghosts themselves after the earth shaken and sucks them deep down into the abyss of the once existent school known as Heavenly Host Elementary School.
Whatever you do, make sure you're not eating while watching this one.

Top 4 - Elfen Lied

Arms

Infamous for its bloody mess of gore, cruelty and nudity. This anime is definitively not for everyone. I think this is an anime you either love or hate, not much in between. That being said, this anime does have one of the most haunting melodies that I've ever heard. The opening song "Lilium" is definitively something you will remember whether you love this anime or not.
Lucy is a unique human breed referred as "Diclonius," born with a small pair of horns and invisible telekinetic hands due to being a victim of inhumane scientific experimentation by the government. However, Lucy manages to escape with a head injury that leaves her with a split personality: someone with the mentality of a harmless girl having limited speech capability. In this state of instability, she stumbles upon two students, Kouta and his cousin Yuka, who take her into their care while being unaware of her murderous tendencies.

Top 3 - Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl)

Studio Pierrot

This is also an anime that you will either love or hate due to being unique. This anime is truly full of emotion. The opening song is great and the ending is amazing. I strongly recommend to give two episodes a try before deciding whether you want to continue with it or not.
The story takes place in modern Japan where the internet has filled the lives of many people in this booming world of technology and sins. This anime portrays the evil of the human race and shows that there are many people in this world that suffer terribly and that, indefinitely, most people wish those that are making their lives miserable would just die and go to hell. This is where Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl) comes in.
The episodes of this anime are mainly independent of each other so each episode of the series focuses on another character going through a tough time before they turn to the legendary girl everyone is whispering about. As you get to know more about the character's lives, and just how badly they're treated, you, yourself, will want to see justice be served, just so that person can suffer what he/she's had coming to them, and you'll get to see their horrifying experience before they're dragged to Hell by Jigoku Shoujo.

Top 2 - Another

P.A. Works

If you like an anime that is more unique and has beautiful art, I highly recommend this one.
The story follows a character named Kouichi Sakakibara after he transfers to a new high school. As he begins adjusting to his new surroundings he notices a girl in his class named Mei Misaki who (for reasons unknown) has been ignored by the rest of the class so Kouichi, being a nice and friendly guy, starts talking to her and befriends her. Once strange accidents and calamities start befalling the classmates Kouichi takes it upon himself to find out what is going on.

Top 1 - Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry)

STUDIO DEEN

Don't let the innocent looking girls fool you, this one will surprise you.
A cursed town and its inhabitants face unexpected deaths, for which one supernatural being is blamed but the truth is far more horrifying, and far stranger than that.
This truly disturbing but yet fascinating tale ties together a plot out of seemingly unconnected threads. At first, they don't make much sense.
However, they do come together one by one until a terrifying larger picture is revealed, which finally reaches a truly satisfying and shocking ending.
This is a good dose of mystery, murder, nightmarish faces, and one hell of a good time. The thing that gave this one the edge over the others was the story.

There it is guys. My top 5 horror anime. I want to mention that it was really hard to pick the order of these ones since they're all really good. If you have any thoughts or would like to suggest any other anime, please leave a commend below.
